Lamport Hall then run around half of Northamptonshire then back to Lamport. "What a good idea said Jocelyn, who can I round up for this?"
Four Northampton Road Runners completed the Spires and Squires Ultra on 2nd June. The beautiful 35 mile route wound its way through the countryside bathing the competitors in sunshine throughout.
Matt Brand finished in 18th overall in a great time of 5:39:46 (not that times matter in these things, it is all about finishing the challenge). Mark Garrett made his ultra debut in 6:32:22 and Jocelyn Granger completed the course in 7:15:21. Richard Cormack also finished in 8:20.

Mark Garrett added, "Well 4 of us started and 4 of us finished. The feet suffered and my head got burnt. It was nearly as hard as a Christmas shopping trip. We were very grateful to see friendly faces at checkpoints and at the finish to spur us on and not allow us to consider giving in. I discovered a whole new world of running, out on your own for a very long time.
It was however a great experience, however next time I see Jocelyn, heading my way with another good idea I will be going into hiding."
